“You become what you believe. To find your purpose–pay attention to the life you are leading now.” Oprah Winfrey
I was going to make a cake for the blog first thing this morning and then tackle my to-do list. While I stood in the kitchen waiting for my coffee to brew I felt a knowing that I must follow a different plan for the day.
My mind screamed that it was Wednesday (posting day) make the cake! My heart said believe and follow. So, I sat at my computer and within a few minutes found what I was meant to hear today. It came from one of my favorite teachers. Oprah Winfrey.
“What writer’s do is write. They write whether 15 people or 15 million people are reading it. If that is what you believe you were born to do, you do it. You find a way to let the truth of yourself express itself.” Oprah Winfrey
If you’re a writer, fast forward to 19:00-19:48. Her words brought tears to my eyes. I highly recommend taking the time to watch the entire video even if you have to fold laundry or grade papers while you listen. Following your heart and doing what you’re meant to do doesn’t mean it will be easy. You’ll have doubts and fears. In fact, it will be harder than mindlessly or heartlessly working at a job for money or because it’s someone else’s expectation of you. When you choose to follow what you are meant to do you will work twice as hard and feel as though you’re facing a mountain. You’ll want to fly to the summit instead of hiking one step at a time. Yet even when you stumble there will be a pervading peace that flows through you. It’s the joyful peace of knowing you’re believing in yourself, you’re living your dream, and following your life’s journey.
Now, I must go make a cake…
You Are What You Believe!
