• Hola From Barcelona!

Posted on September 22, 2011 by admin in Parenting, Travel.

Where do I begin? In three days I’ve taken over three hundred pictures and eaten more chocolate, cheese and bread than I’ve eaten in two months back home – and loving every minute of it! Barcelona is beautiful, it’s accessible, and it is by far the cleanest city I have ever visited.

We arrived early Wednesday morning after spending eleven hours flying on Tuesday. I’m not showing any of the pictures I took when we first arrived. Scary! I will show a picture of Elle and Kai sleeping in our apartment because even though Kai had his own room he walked to his sister’s room in his sleep. He’s been known to do strange things like open car doors in his sleep too. This was adorable and I had to take a picture.

I still haven’t totally adjusted to the time change. Last night I was awake from two to four am. I should be sleeping now but this laptop says it’s only 7:25pm. (Florida time) Everyone else is sleeping which means it’s quiet, very conducive to writing, especially when we’re all in an apartment about the size of our livingroom. The wonderful thing about not adjusting to Barcelona time is that my body doesn’t know when to miss my morning cup of coffee and I haven’t had any headaches. I simply wake up, down one of these and walk all day.

Our apartment, although tiny, is very cute and only a five-minute walk to the Museu Nacional d’ Art de Catalunya.

Fira Centric 10. Our home for the next eight days. We have a small kitchen with a stove and microwave, three bedrooms, a couch, TV, and a bathroom with a washing machine under the sink. In case we wake up in a panic because we don’t know where we are… it’s painted on the wall. It’s just so cute! Yep, those are bricks on the ceiling.

We stocked the fridge with Toblerones.

So far our itinerary has been… Wednesday we shopped for groceries then explored the outside grounds of the museum. The view from the top is spectacular. You can see all the way to the sea. Afterwards, we ventured over to the arena which turned out to be a huge shopping mall with lots of restaurants, a movie theatre and yummy gelato. In case you didn’t know. Bon Bon flavor is hazelnut. “Mmmmm”

    Wednesday’s dinner.

And I was worried I wouldn't find enough vegetarian options. Every menu I've seen so far has vegetarian dishes noted.

Thursday we toured Barcelona for ten hours. (It still feels like Thursday to me.) One of the highlights of the day was the cable car ride to the Castell de Montjuic.

Here we are at the castle. The sea is behind us.

And now I must try to sleep. It’s nine pm. in Florida which means it’s way past my bedtime in Barcelona. Happy Friday everyone.
