When Inspiration is Lost
Keeping up with two posts a week can be challenging, especially when I’m working on other projects. Sometimes a numbness takes over. I feel frustration which usually leads to thoughts of giving up. There’s a countdown in my head…two days until my post is due…one day until my post is due… I watch Super Soul Sunday episodes on DVR. I pick up magazines and read inspirational articles. I water my trees. I tell Eric, “I have no idea what to write.” He then offers suggestions and I shake my head. I meditate, watch TED TALKS, and search Pinterest for recipes to distract me from thinking about having nothing to write.…

You Become What You Believe
“You become what you believe. To find your purpose–pay attention to the life you are leading now.” Oprah Winfrey I was going to make a cake for the blog first thing this morning and then tackle my to-do list. While I stood in the kitchen waiting for my coffee to brew I felt a knowing that I must follow a different plan for the day. My mind screamed that it was Wednesday (posting day) make the cake! My heart said believe and follow. So, I sat at my computer and within a few minutes found what I was meant to hear today. It came from one of my favorite teachers. Oprah Winfrey. “What…

What do you want?
What do you want? If someone were to ask me what I wanted I could immediately rattle off a list of things from wanting my books to sell, a new couch, a landscaped yard, the lot next door, to a trip to Europe…. Oh, and then I really do like learning at writing retreats. I’d like one of those too. I can think of many things I want but will they bring contentment or will the list never end? Hmmm, I really want to say, yes, they will definitely bring me contentment. Have you seen the new sectionals they have for sale? Luxurious! How could my books selling well not bring contentment? Well…because contentment comes…

Wonderful Mom Moments
My inspiration for this post comes from The Book of Awesome. I have discovered the magic in delving into thankfulness and recognizing the extraordinary moments that take place every day. In celebration of Mother’s Day, I’ve decided to make a list of special times that have grabbed my heart and made me especially thankful to be a mom. Moms feel free to add to the list in the comment section or on my Facebook page. I wish I could remember every detail of when my teens were younger but I can’t. Even Kai’s little boy voice escapes me. So please join in and help jog my memory of those precious moments shared with our children. …

Inspiration in Our Backyard
Thomas Edison and Henry Ford Winter Estates. Ft. Myers, Florida. Thomas Edison Quotes: My philosophy of life: Work and look on the bright side of everything. Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time. I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work. All progress, all success springs from thinking. If parents pass enthusiasm along to their children, they will leave them an estate of incalculable value. I would like to live about three hundred years. I think I have ideas enough to keep me busy that long.

Thought For the Day
Inspiration can burst through my lazy thoughts when I least expect it. This morning I was chatting with my daughter over a bowl of Wheaties FUEL. It was the crack of 9:30 am and son was still asleep. Gone are the days when I used to hear “Mommy!” and crawl out of bed wishing for just one more hour. I had been up since 6:30 editing Mystic and enjoying the silence. Daughter and I were discussing life when out of my mouth popped-“There’s a difference between feeling you deserve something and feeling you’re blessed to have something.” She agreed. Still in editing mode, I went upstairs and wrote it down.…
