    My Summer

This has been an eventful summer filled with joyful moments. The summer began with me deciding to give this blog a new design. Cathy at Wheelhouse Collective agreed to help me and she sent me weekly to-do lists to keep me focused so we could finish the website by the end of summer. I have a feeling she’s worked with authors before because just when I thought I had completed my list, a gentle reminder appeared in my Inbox. Thank you, Cathy and Wendy for this beautiful new website. While I was working with Cathy I was also trying to find the right publisher for ELLE & BUDDY. Thanks to…

    Just One More

The story of Sydney New Family Members A week ago we adopted a new family member, Gerry (Gerard Butler) the greyhound. It probably wasn’t the best timing but we decided to have the carpet on our stairs replaced with Pergo right after Gerry came to live with us. I woke up one morning and Gerry was limping. Worried that he may have broken a bone I immediately took him to our vet. It turned out to be a pulled muscle. However, while Gerry and I were waiting to see the doctor a couple came in with a box. Inside were three newborn kittens a landscaper had found. The couple asked…

    Weekly Photo Challenge: Threshold

“Leaving the old, both worlds at once they view, That stand upon the threshold of the new.” Edmund Waller WordPress has a weekly photo challenge. I’ve decided to give it a try because taking pictures slows me down and helps me see every day beauty. This week’s theme: Threshold. Threshold moments are those moments when you come to the realization that everything is about to change. I remember standing alone in a hospital bathroom trying to figure out how to get the tiny gown around my huge belly while also wrapping my head around the fact that I was on the threshold of motherhood. Eighteen years later, I stood in the doorway of my…

There Are Seven Cats In My Bathroom!

There are seven cats in my bathroom! December 31st I wrote a post about meeting goals. Well, it’s the end of February and I’m grading myself on my progress in each category. Education I’ll begin with my worst, Education, in which I’d give myself a D. I set a goal to practice learning Spanish every day and well… I’ve only completed 3 of my Duolingo lessons and my Rosetta Stone remains untouched. The only reason I didn’t give myself an F was because I’ve been studying up on self publishing, owning my own business and marketing. That has to count for something. Fitness and Writing Fitness and writing I strive to work towards daily. If…

    Kittens

Kittens It’s hard to believe that it was only eight days ago when I took in this beautiful creature. Our neighborhood has unsterilized feral cats and I’m on a mission to spay and neuter. Momma cat and her kittens have filled the void of loneliness from missing Buddy with love. New life. New hope. She gave birth to 6 kittens on February 10th. Help in our Community If you live in Lee County and have a feral cat population in your neighborhood, Animal Services can help you. Check out this page: TNR Trap-Nueter-Return Here are some interesting articles on why the TNR program was started as an alternative to euthanizing feral cats.…

    No Theme Sunday

Today’s theme is all about the recent events in my life. In other words there really is no theme throughout the post. My editor husband is going to have a fit but he’s at spin class right now and won’t see this until later today. I’m breaking the rules. I’m such a rebel. It probably has something to do with the fact that I went to bike night and line danced. Bike night as in the kind with loud pipes not squeaky horns. And lined danced as in bumped into people and pretended I knew what I was doing. Having teens means not having to get a babysitter. Eric and…
