Procrastination
Procrastination Writers are often faced with great resistance, otherwise known as procrastination. For me, there is a feeling within that I must write, yet when I sit down at the keyboard suddenly I’m checking email, Facebook and Pinterest before I click to open my manuscript. I learned from watching an interview with Steven Pressfield on Super Soul Sunday that what I’m feeling is resistance and when the pain of resistance becomes greater than the pain of facing a blank page then I’ll get to work. New Beginnings
New Beginnings There is something about this time of year in Florida that excites me. I think it’s the burgeoning cool weather, football, caramel apples, school, and the smell of my pumpkin spice candles wafting through the house. It feels as though it’s time for a new beginning. The house is quiet and my new novel calls to me every day. Starting over is scary so I cling to the familiar breeze through the window, sweet scent of pumpkin, and after school conversations with Kai, in order to stay grounded and remember the days when MYSTIC was just an idea–a beginning manuscript. Growing Avocado Trees
I didn’t recognize the symbolism of growing an avocado tree at the same time I was beginning my journey of becoming an author. I simply loved avocados. Four years later as I set a new seed on my windowsill at the same time I was stressing over how to market Mystic I realized my avocado trees represented change and growth from within myself. They were my reminder that even though I could envision the giant tree that would fill my yard it wasn’t going to grow overnight.
