Recipe Review
This is me… So, today’s post is a review of some of my favorite recipes. Why? Choose the best answer. A. Waking up at 4:45 am has finally caught up with me and I have to… Concentrate. On. Every. Word. I. Say. B. Two week’s worth of mail is piled on my kitchen counter. Yes, that includes bills. C. I’m frantically trying to edit MYSTIC for the 7th or 8th time (I’ve lost count) and send it to the publisher who has already started designing the cover! Yay! D. I simply must paint my toenails hot pink or an adorable little second grader is going to be very disappointed. E. All of the above…

Apple Crisp
When I was little my grandmother made warm apple crisp with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top. It’s the perfect dessert for a cool fall evening. Here’s hoping we have one of those soon here in Florida. Apple crisp is easy to make. Peel and slice six to eight apples. Pour 1/2 cup water over the apples. Make the crisp. 1 Cup sugar 3/4 Cup flour 1 teaspoon cinnamon 7 Tablespoons butter Mix until it’s crumbly and then spread it over the apples. I made individual ramekins. Just cause I thought it would be cute. Bake at 375 degrees for 45-60 minutes. Let it cool for fifteen minutes and serve warm. Delicious!

Halloween Owl Cookies
I saw a picture of an owl cookie on Pinterest which immediately made me think of Ms. Yolen’s picture book. I decided to give the cookies a try. I wanted to make it as easy as possible in case any teachers wanted to grab Jane Yolen’s OWL MOON, read it to their class and then offer some delicious owl cookies. While my cookies aren’t as pretty as the Pinterest picture they’re still fun to look at. And I added a candy corn beak istead of an almond because I know many classrooms have students with nut allergies. Ingredients: 1 bag of M&M’s 1 bag of candy corn 1 package of sugar cookie dough Step 1: Cut…

Chocolate + Peanut Butter + Cream Cheese + Butterfinger = Awesome Cake!
Chocolate-peanut butter cake with cream cheese frosting and topped with Butterfinger. Football season in our house has its advantages. Eric loves to watch football but has trouble sitting still. His solution is to either vacuum and mop the downstairs or cook while the game is on. It’s a win-win situation for our marriage. I’ll put up with the noise of the TV because I know I’m either going to enjoy a tasty treat or be able to walk barefoot on our living room floor. This cake was last weekend’s creation. Oh my goodness! Incredible! It’s so rich Eric and I had to share a slice. Here’s the printable recipe: epicurious Be sure to…

Lava Cakes!
Chocolate lava cakes. Hope this recipe makes sense. I never write with music playing because I need absolute silence. However, it seems the battery in one of our smoke detectors has gone bad. I have been listening to intermittent beeps for the past five hours and I can’t take it anymore! I’m blasting Eric Hutchinson while I write this post. Beep! Awesome! My favorite dessert.
