What’s Trending in the Rausin House

What’s Trending in the Rausin House Me embarrassing my kids with titles like: What’s Trending in the Rausin House. Books! Arielle recommended I read: THE HAPPINESS PROJECT and IS EVERYONE HANGING OUT WITHOUT ME? First, I have to read, THE INVENTION of WINGS, by one of my favorite authors. Sue Monk Kidd Today, I received this text from Arielle: 16 mile push (translation-she did 16 miles in her racing wheelchair), I have to go to work and then class until 10pm. VEGAN CHICK’N POTPIE

VEGAN CHICK’N POTPIE A few weeks ago I wrote about a great new cookbook I found – VEGAN COOKING FOR CARNIVORES, by Roberto Martin Arielle came home from college for a month and Eric decided it was time we learned how to cook. Not really. Arielle and I have always loved cooking recipes for this blog. It’s what we do. Since she’s training hard at school for her marathons we thought we better find some healthier recipes. We started with wild mushroom tomato sauce. It was delicious! However, I got in a bit of trouble because I posted the pictures of our delicious dinner without posting the recipe. Sorry! I wanted everyone to…

    Innocent and Assumed Guilty

Innocent and Assumed Guilty This morning I had a taste of what it feels like to be questioned by police and I have to say it certainly didn’t feel good! Here’s the story: I woke early to take Arielle to the airport. After having her home for a glorious month it was time for her to return to college. Obviously, I wasn’t feeling very chipper. I said good-bye, watched her wheel onto the plane and then put my head down and left the airport before anyone saw me blubbering like…well, a mom who has to say good-bye to her baby. On the way home over our beautiful Cape bridge I noticed the…

    Homemade New Year’s Cups

Homemade New Year’s Cups Arielle is home from college on winter break which means my house may be filled with her friends at any moment. I love it! They’re used to me searching for blog ideas so when I came downstairs and found them crafting away on their New Year’s cups it wasn’t a surprise when I asked to take pictures. They’re all such good sports. These cups are super easy and super cheap to make. Everything came from Dollar Tree. All you need are plastic cups (any color), candlestick holders, glue, glitter, ribbon, and numbers if you want to add 2014. You can decorate the cup before or after you glue it to…

    How do you celebrate Christmas?

How do you celebrate Christmas? Here’s how we celebrate… You can see from the picture our family doesn’t really put much emphasis on the decorating the tree tradition. I keep thinking that one Christmas I’ll choose a theme like Christmas around the world and decorate several trees. Yep, I’m still thinking about that…We do celebrate with matching pj’s! We Make Cookies! My favorite are the pizzelles and biscotti. We actually means Eric and Arielle. Kai and I eat them. OK, I eat them. Kai can tell me exactly how many calories are in each one. Stupid internet! We Eat Out! One place Kai doesn’t count calories is his ultimate favorite…
