Wisdom Wednesday: Love and Effort

Love many things, for therein lies the true strength, and whosoever loves much performs much, and can accomplish much, and what is done in love is done well.  Vincent Van Gogh

Today I had the privilege of speaking, via the Internet, to Florida Virtual School students about MYSTIC. One of the students asked a very thoughtful question, “How do I find my passion?” I told them passion is doing something you love to do. For me, it’s writing. The books I create come from my love of storytelling. However, I think it’s important to also include the necessity of effort whether it’s a passion for sports, music, owning a business, sewing, painting, whatever it may be – it takes a tremendous amount of practice to succeed. Practice and persistence are two qualities found in those who have had great success following their passion. The good news is that when you do what you love you’re willing to work hard because it’s so much a part of you you couldn’t imagine a life without it. What is done in love is done well…because you’ve worked very hard and didn’t give up!

This video is for the students who wanted to know about my son Kai. Here he is following his passion for music. There’s a surprise guest at the end!
