SCBWI Conference
SCBWI Conference I decided at the last minute to take a weekend trip with Eric and attend the Florida regional SCBWI conference in Orlando. We had a blast! Look what we won at the silent auction! Eric said they fit me perfectly and we had to have them. They were made by an author…of course! Gaby Triana is not only the author of four novels but she’s also a cake decorator. Thank you, Gaby! It can get lonely sitting here typing with only my zoo for company. I decided it was time to meet some writers in person…actual people I could speak to…not online. Meeting authors online is comfortable for me…

Heavenly Peach Pops
Heavenly Peach Pops Here is the website that gave Eric the inspiration for his peach pops. CBS New York. Last June we purchased a Zoku. The kids and I had fun experimenting. Eric decided to add a little zing to the pops! Eric made a kid and Krista friendly version without the bourbon and one boozy bourbon pop. I thought the kid version was quite tasty. It’s so quick and easy to enjoy a popsicle dessert with the Zoku. And they didn’t pay me to say that! I’m going to be a little lazy and simply add my pictures to this recipe. If you have a Zoku Quick Pop Maker it only takes twelve…

Traveling On My Own – Part Three
Traveling On My Own – Part Three In May I set out on a road trip from Cape Coral, Florida to Champaign, Illinois to help my daughter move out of her dorm and into an apartment and to drop off her truck so she would have a little more freedom for the summer. Follow the links below to read Part One and Part Two. Part One Part Two Feeling full and happy to have met such kind people in Tennessee I set out for Kentucky. I get teased all the time by my techie husband for being resistant to gadgets and not always reading all the directions on how to use new gadgets. Once upon a…

Graduation Cookies
Graduation Cookies! I found this recipe in an old Wilton catalog. They used chocolate numbers which I thought were adorable but I couldn’t find the right mold. I tried making chocolate numbers on wax paper like my Fireworks topping. It didn’t work. That’s when I decided to get creative with icing. Here’s the Wilton Tuiles. [gmc_recipe 6297]

Traveling On My Own – Part Two
I set out to find Hohenwald. It was a beautiful day driving through the mountains. There was something about the winding roads and the pick-up truck that made me switch the radio to country music. I just had to. The more I listened, the more I realized what it was that I liked about country; the lyrics. I found myself immersed in stories, some sad, some funny, and some really ridiculous. Songs like this one I could understand. There were definitely parallels between my journey and what Lee Brice sings about. Although, I realized that even though I’ve spent my days missing Arielle while she was at college I was…

Traveling On My Own
Traveling On My Own In the beginning, the music played, I sang, the sun was shining and the excitement of breaking free of routine and visiting my daughter at college filled me with joy. I was on an adventure! I thought my journey would be relatively worry free and similar to an earlier visit to Champaign where my days were spent writing while Arielle was in class and my evenings were spent chatting with Arielle and catching up on movies. Oh, this trip was different! Very, very different! I’ve never been nervous to travel alone. It feels familiar. As early as first and second grade I remember riding my bike on daily explorations of the…
