Chocolate + Peanut Butter + Cream Cheese + Butterfinger = Awesome Cake!

Chocolate-peanut butter cake with cream cheese frosting and topped with Butterfinger. Football season in our house has its advantages. Eric loves to watch football but has trouble sitting still. His solution is to either vacuum and mop the downstairs or cook while the game is on. It’s a win-win situation for our marriage. I’ll put up with the noise of the TV because I know I’m either going to enjoy a tasty treat or be able to walk barefoot on our living room floor. This cake was last weekend’s creation. Oh my goodness! Incredible! It’s so rich Eric and I had to share a slice. Here’s the printable recipe: epicurious Be sure to…

    Hummingbird Beach Cake

Getting stuck in Jo-Ann Fabrics during a storm has its benefits. Arielle and I explored the baking aisles and found a mold for chocolate shells. Soon she had her cake all planned. Introducing The Hummingbird Cake. Arielle remembered making it years ago. I had no such recollection but she she told me it was delicious and she was right. We made the cream cheese icing first. Ingredients: 1 (8 oz.) package Cream Cheese 1/2 Cup Butter (softened) 1 (16 oz.) sifted Powdered Sugar 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract Use a mixer and cream the…

I don’t like checking Facebook and email on my phone. Too addicting. A part of me likes to be out of touch. Suddenly, I realized my whole life could be one status update after another. I’m not even close to being witty enough to make a trip to the gym or grocery shopping sound interesting. Although yesterday I could have contributed an interesting post as my iPhone went flying behind me twice while I was running on the treadmill. Just try to listen to “All For the Best” from Godspell without going faster and faster and…

    Epic Fail Fall Cake

It all began when I was perusing the Martha Stewart dessert site and I spotted the most colorful cake I had ever seen. It was called the Super Epic Rainbow Cake. Of course in true Krista fashion I decided immediately I was going to make this super epic cake but with the colors of fall instead of rainbow colors. What better way to begin the season than with a super epic cake? That’s what I told Arielle and she replied, “but you don’t like cake. Maybe you should make recipes you want to eat.” Nah, someone will eat my cake, the fun is in the challenge of making it. That’s…
