What’s Your Major? What’s Your Plan?

Thank you to everyone who shared in the Random Acts of Kindness Day. This year my family participated which made it extra special. Realizing how easy it is to make someone’s day through even just my words has helped me understand the significant difference kindness can make. Try it. Give someone a detailed compliment and watch their face. Your spirit will lift with theirs.

    Teaching Positive Self-Talk

A new She Said, He Said post is coming next week. Eric needed some time off. He told me writing was hard work. I said, “Welcome to my world.” He said, “I hate your world.” I laughed. Her father was busy entertaining her one year old sister. Every once in a while he would look back at his older daughter and make a comment. “You’re not a baby. Stop sucking your thumb.” “Keep an eye on our stuff.” When I mentioned how well the little girl could carry on a conversation he replied, “We’ve been working on it.” To me this three-year old was still just a baby but to her father she…

It’s Thanksgiving! Let the cooking, eating and bickering begin.

“Lovely family time.” It’s what we say when we get annoyed with each other in the Rausin house. Now that my children are young adults they see us much differently than they did when they were little. Ahh, to be able to go back to the time when Eric and I could do no wrong… Nope, they see all our flaws and what’s worse–we raised them so they share many of those same flaws or should I say interesting personality traits. Here’s the story of this Thanksgiving. Or why Arielle’s at the grocery store Thanksgiving Eve at 8:17 pm. For the past few months Eric’s been excited about cooking with Arielle for Thanksgiving.…
