Ten Ways Puppies Show Love
I’ve been fostering 7 puppies and their momma for a month. It’s one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences I’ve ever undertaken. In my usual nonchalant way, I didn’t think twice about seven puppies. Two, three,… seven…what could be the difference? They’re puppies. Mmhmm. The difference is seven puddles, seven trips outside, inside, and up and down the stairs when it’s bedtime, and seven puppies exploring my yard while I run around like a character on Sesame Street counting 1,2,3,4,5,6,7! My Fitbit loves me! I’ve earned all kinds of medals. Ten thousand steps is a piece-of-cake. Having seven also means seven times the love. When they wake from their nap and all look at me waiting to be picked up, well, it’s one of the best feelings in the world. It’s right up there with puppy kisses.
Being with them is a reminder of what’s important in life. Love. They don’t say it. They show it…
1. The moment a shelter dog/cat enters your home.
2. When they look at you with eyes that speak.
3. When they bring you their toy and want to play.
4. When they’re scared of the storm and come to you for comfort.
5. When they bark to protect you from UPS.
6. When their entire butt shakes from a wagging tail because they’re so happy you’re home.
7. When they fall a sleep in your arms.
8. When they follow you everywhere and whine outside the bathroom door.
9. When they weigh one hundred pounds and think they’re a lap dog.
10. When they put their head on your lap because they know you are the one who needs comfort.
