In 2007 our family took a three-week vacation to Europe. I believe that trip was the beginning of my understanding of how my thoughts influenced my life. It was also the beginning of my understanding of the importance of chocolate croissants. No vacation is complete without them!

Planning the trip was stressful. It took a lot of courage for me to buy the tickets, go to places I’d never been, and hope that we’d find more accessible accommodations than inaccessible. Our family went on a great adventure and just like all adventures had our good days and more challenging days, but in the end, we came home closer as a family and invigorated for our next trip. I remember afterward someone told me they didn’t think they could take such a trip, going to Europe seemed more like a dream than a goal. I responded by telling them all they had to do was buy the plane ticket. After that, they’d figure it out because they had to. It’s kind of like life. You just have to take that first step.
